Typography as interface architecture
Typography is not the layer applied after an interface has been organised. Scale, measure, contrast and line structure determine how the interface is understood before colour, imagery or interaction enters the system.

Hierarchy is a routing system
A page title, section statement, body argument and technical annotation perform different navigational jobs. When they operate at similar intensity, a reader must repeatedly decide what is primary instead of following a visible route through the document.
A useful scale therefore creates meaningful distance between roles. The page statement establishes the territory; section headings divide the argument; body copy carries the explanation; metadata identifies provenance, state or measure.
Type roles carry meaning across the system
Display, reading, interface and evidence text should not be interchangeable. A compact interface face signals an action. A stable reading face supports sustained comprehension. Monospaced text is reserved for identifiers, measurements and system state rather than used as a general technical costume.
These distinctions let typography communicate function before a control is used. They also make the same content easier for assistive technology and machine parsers to interpret because the visible hierarchy follows the semantic one.

Responsive typography requires recomposition
Reducing every size proportionally treats a phone as a small desktop. The more durable approach preserves the relationship between roles while changing line length, wrapping, alignment and adjacency for the available space.
A numbered section may use a dedicated gutter on a wide screen and a compact heading grid on mobile. The identifier remains attached to the heading in both cases; only the composition changes.
Typography can be verified
Typographic quality is partly perceptual, but implementation conditions can still be tested. Heading order, line measure, overflow, font loading, contrast, focus states and reflow at narrow widths are observable properties.
Treating those properties as acceptance criteria turns typography from an image of a system into part of the system itself: implemented, inspectable and maintainable after the initial design decision.
